Give the genotype for a male without hemophilia?
emophilia is the sex linked recessive trait carried on the x sex chromosome. H is the symbol for normal and h the symbol for hemophilia.
a. give the genotype for a male without hemophilia
b.give the genotype for a female who is heterozygous for hemophilia
c. predict the results of a cross between these two individuals
d.perform the cross in a punnet square below ( How would I start off the punnet square)
- describe the results of the punnet square.
* A male is hemizygous for hemophilia while a female is heterozygous.
a. predict the results of a cross between the two individuals.
b.complete punnet square.
c. Why are these traits expressed more in females than in males?
1. First Question
First, you draw a square with four boxes inside it.
Second, put the heterozygous females genotype above the top 2 boxes… like: —–I——
The X’s should be separate. X^H and X^h
Third, on the left place the Males geno type X^H, Y separate like in step two.
Fourth, Cross (Hint: URC= upper right corner, ULC= upper left corner, LRC= lower right corner, LLC= lower left corner)
Answers for cross:
ULC= X^H X^H
URC=X^H X^h
LLC=X^H Y
LRC=X^h Y
Results:
25% Female Homozygous non-Hemophilia
25% Female Heterozygous non-Hemophilia
25% Male non-Hemophilia
25% Male Hemophilia
2. Second Question
ULC= X^H X^h
URC=X^h X^h
LLC=X^H Y
LRC=X^h Y
Men actually have more of a chance of having this desiese because, men only have 1 X while women have two which allows them to cross out the desiese with one dominant allele while men cannot do so.
